Greene County

Arched bridge over Raceway at Scull Shoals Mill Village ruins on the Oconee River. It was home to Georgia’s First Paper Mill, Water-Powered Sawmill, Grist Mill, and Textile Mills. This general area has been inhabited for an estimated 10,000 years, with the last (Scull Shoals Mill) settlement abandoning about 1900. Now an Experimental Forest and recreational Historic site.
