The Carter Newton Home in Madison


 Circa 1849. The house is a Greek Revival Antebellum home built during the peak of the cotton boom. The house was built by Carter and Nancy Shephard on his plantation. The exterior is basically unchanged since it's construction. There have been major alterations to the interior. The full history of the house and plantation can be found here,
