The Porter York House in Clarkesville

Built around 1854, it's the only large Greek Revival in the city. It was built by local architect John Porter. Later, it became the home of M.C. York, a local business man and tinkerer who connected his home and business with a telephone wire. This revelation led him to found the Standard Telephone Company.
