The Martin House

This Greek Revival styled home in Dalton was known as the Martin House. It was built in 1911 for Colonel William Clinton Martin. Throughout his life, he served as an attorney, state senator, president of the First National Bank of Dalton, and chairman of the Whitfield BOE for 30 years. It was then used as the Dalton Regional Library from 1948 until 1982. I spent many many hours there as a child! I...t was then renovated and served as an office building. It has recently been purchased and renovated by the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton, who built a new adjacent sanctuary, keeping in the style of this grand century old house and preserving it for future generations. It now houses classrooms and church offices.
