Columbus & Chattahoochee Railroad

This 26-mile short line railroad runs from Girard, AL, across the Chattahoochee River from Columbus, to Mahrt, AL. The latter place is home to a MeadWestvaco paper mill on the west bank of the river.

Acquired by Genesee & Wyoming in 2012, the CCH interchanges with Norfolk Southern in Columbus. It makes this connection by crossing the river beside the historic Columbus Iron Works convention center, then street-running on seven blocks of Ninth Street.

CCH's tracks are former Norfolk Southern (earlier Central of Georgia and Southern Railway).
