Redwine Methodist Church in what is now Hart County

It was founded some time before 1800 by Revolutionary War soldier Jacob Redwine, This structure is the 4th church and built in 1906. The first was a log cabin church about a quarter mile to the west. Major John Durkee who was a hero of the Battle of Kettle Creek is buried there. The area. The book, "A Circuit Riders Wife", was written about the area by Corra Harris, who met and married her husband, Reverend Lundy White in 1887 when he was a preacher here.
