The Open Door at Alley's Ol' Store in Lakemont

In the early days of Lakemont Georgia the general store known as ‘Alley’s Grocery’ was the hub of activity for the little community which had grown up around Lake Rabun and the Tallulah Railroad. Located just across the road from the railroad depot it was the place where people congregated while waiting for the train. It served as the post office, as well as the message and communications center for the area and supplied the locals and summer visitors with groceries, hardware, ice and bait
