The Brick House at Callaway Plantation in Wilkes County

The Plantation goes back to a log cabin built in 1785 to Job Callaway and grew to a 3,000 acre plantation. The Greek Revival Mansion was started by Parker Callaway in 1860 and finished in 1869 by Aristides Callaway in 1869. In 1983 the house and part of the land was given by the family to the city of Washington who operate it as a museum. The house is still pretty much in it's original state with no indoor plumbing or electricity.
