Built in 1835 by my 3rd-Great Grandfather, it sits about 2 miles south of Hartwell Dam. My maternal grandmother was born here and later married at the foot of the main staircase. The homeplace remained in our family until 1986, when it was sold to a couple who loving restored it to its former beauty and got it placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
