Chickamauga

The Georgia Monument in the Chickamauga National Battlefield and Military Park is the tallest in the park at 80 feet. It was erected in 1899 and dedicated on May 4, 1899. It cost $25,000 to create and erect in that year. Each division is represented by a soldier: the Infantry, the Artillery, and the Calvary. The soldiers are bronze. The rest of the monument is Georgia Blue Granite and it was crea...ted by the Venable Brothers Company in Atlanta. It is located on LaFayette Road in Walker County. The park actually spans parts of both Walker and Catoosa County. This monument is in Walker County. The location is at some of the most famous fighting. This was an intense battle mostly fought over possession of the Lafayette Road. The park is full of monuments from all over the country and is over 5000 acres.
The inscription reads: "To the lasting memory of all her sons, who fought on this field---those who fought and lived, and those who fought and died, those who gave much and those who gave all. GEORGIA erects this monument."
It is a very powerful monument to view in person.
