Built in 1857 by Joseph Prather, who became a company commander in the Georgia Militia in the Civil War. At the end of the war he returned home. Not long after the end of the war. General Robert Toombs was busy trying to elude Union Cavalry and return home. He came to his friends house and was there about a week when he heard the Cavalry crossing the Covered Bridge over the Tugaloo River. With the help of Sarah Jarrett Prather, he hid in a closet and though they searched the house he wasn't found. The home remains in the Prather family to this day. (Stephens County)
