The Peskin & Co Building in Winder

The building was constructed in 1924 as a Masonic Lodge, Henry Peskin moved to Winder in 1929 and borrowed $500 to open a clothing store which became Peskin & Company Department Store. Mr. Peskin had quite a bit of civic pride seeing draftee's off to WW2 and Korea with boxes of cigars. He would also anonymously have food delivered to poor families at Thanksgiving and Christmas and helped some go to college. He sold the business at some point and died in 1978. The store survived until the mid-late 80's I think. The building is being renovated, but it would be nice to keep the old advertising sign.
