Antioch Christian Church in Oconee County

It was organized in 1807 from a small group who had split off from the Methodist Church and built a small church in Scull Shoals. The church was re-organized in 1822 and another meeting house was built and was called the "old Republican". Over time, small groups split off and started other Christian Churches. In 1878 a new building was constructed on the same site and adopted the current name. Because Antioch is the site of the first Christian Church in Georgia, it is considered the Mother Church for all Christian Churches in the state,
