According to the historical marker next to the bridge, It was built in 1897 by a man named Nathaniel Richardson. It is 99 feet long, and it originally carried the Watkinsville-Athens road over Call's Creek- in 1924, it was moved to it's current location over Rose Creek. It is one of only 13 functional covered bridges left in the entire state of Georgia- and out of those, this bridge is one of only a few that still carry traffic without underlying steel beams!
