The Old Governor's Mansion in Milledgeville

I hope everybody in North Georgia was able to get out and enjoy a sunny day. I went down to Milledgeville. This is the Old Governor's Mansion. It was built in 1839 and was the first official Governor's residence. Governor Joseph Brown lived in the mansion during the Civil War. During the March to the Sea it was claimed as a prize and General Sherman made it his HQ and spent the night of November 23 1864 in the dining room. After the war, the capital was moved in 1868, and the mansion became a boarding house and then was loaned to the Georgia Military and Agricultural College and later to the predecessor to GCSU. Early in the century it was restored to it's 1851 appearance and is now a museum.
