The Moss House in Tallulah Falls

It was completed in 1880. It was built by Rufus L Moss of Athens. At the time several wealthy citizens of Athens built summer homes in Tallulah Falls, some locals quipped that the city was the "Athens Enclave". Even before the house was completed, he and fellow Athenians lobbied to build a railroad line to Tallulah Falls, no doubt to improve access to the area for tourists and goods flowing out of Tallulah Falls. The Tallulah Falls Railroad completed the line to the area by 1882. This led to a tourist boom and Moss built the Cliff House Hotel and more houses. His house remained in the family until 1981. Since then it has been at least a restaurant and a new owner is trying to restore the house.

  1. I own the Moss House on Moss Hill on Moss Street in Tallulah Falls Georgia. I've been restoration mode since 2014. 140 year old Victorian is never complete. It's constantly needing love and attention Same as humans.
