There are quite a few abandoned cars hiding in the woods along a trail inside of Providence Canyon State Park in Stewart County! Long before the area in and around the Canyon was turned into a State Park in 1971, there was a homestead close by & the people left a few cars there. Over time, trees have grown up around the cars- in this case, a tree grew between the car & door with the door open. The... cars have since become unique ecosystems for many bird & mammal species who use them for nesting and cover. Because of their location & the encroachment of nature, removing the vehicles would cause too much damage to the environment & ecosystem in the area! The cars can be seen while walking on the park's Canyon Loop Trail.
