Abandoned Stores in Smithville
I was told back in the 60's and 70's that last building on the right was a movie theater..

Long Abandoned Jail on the Right..
See the bars on the window..Not sure how long it's not been a jail but I would assume since Lee County built their jail in the city limits. This is in Smithville.

Lee County Windmill
Thought this was the coolest windmill with a working water tank! It was actually working when I took the picture.

Smithville
A few blocks over from the 4 lane U.S. Highway 19 in Lee County, people drive by on the highway, never realizing this old train station sits hidden away in this small town of Smithville- a little town of less than 800 people. It's been many years since this old station has seen passengers pass through it's doors to board a train. There are so many beautiful small towns & historic buildings that ma...ny people drive right by, never realizing what is hiding just off the 4 lane highways all around Georgia, just waiting to be explored! Next time you take a trip, get off the interstate & make it a point to drive down the small town main streets that are almost all bypassed nowadays- you'll be glad you did!

Smithville GA
This home was built in 1896. We lived here about 20 years ago but it didn't look this nice lol. The current owners have done a great job restoring the house.

McAfee Church Road in Lee County
Formerly known as U.S. 19 North This is about all that's left of the Two lane that use to be. The new highway wraps around the Church in the background.
