The unique grave of Bessie Jones, who died in 1929, located at Sandy Bottom Cemetery. This is the oldest marked grave in this tiny African-American cemetery that rests haphazardly among the sands and trees in rural Atkinson County. "Only Sleeping" is etched underneath the three-dimensional face of the monument. Located on Duncan Cemetery Lane, just north of the Clinch County Line and south of Red Bluff Creek.
