Another new interpretive marker will be installed THIS Thursday on the "Left Wing" route of the March to the Sea Heritage Trail®. Officially titled "The J. D. Roberts Home" (# L25), its location in downtown Waynesboro (Burke County) made it a "witness" to not one but TWO cavalry skirmishes between the divisions of Confederate Major General Joseph Wheeler and Union Brigadier General H. Judson Kilpatrick during the March to the Sea:

The Roberts Home now houses the Burke County Museum, which contains more history about this area's role in the war. Its new Georgia Civil War Heritage Trails® interpretive marker becomes the 30th to be installed on the March to the Sea Heritage Trail.
