Union County GA
Took this pic in 2011 as I was passing by on the bike. The Sunrise Grocery is not really forgotten, I stop there almost every time I cross Blood Mountain. Located in Union County, bottom of Blood Mountain on US 129, it started out early in the 1920’s as a Pure Oil Station. In its time, it also served as a neighborhood grill, local nightspot, a stop for weary travelers, moonshiners and some bootlegging out of the back door. The owners are the second generation of this family to keep it alive and they believe in trading with local businesses and selling local products.
