The Old Bank in Rocky Ford

Jacqueline Moye

Rocky Ford is a rail stop on the old Central of Georgia RR. Also, it got its name for the literally rocky ford on the Ogeechee River, where an old Indian trading path crossed the river. Until 1954 Rocky Ford was also one terminus for the Central of Sylvania RR, with the other terminus having been in Sylvania. That short line railway connected the Central of Georgia with the old Savannah & Atlanta RR. But mainly it connected Sylvania with the Central of Georgia, and thus with the rest of the state.
