Lumber City, GA

In Telfair County GA Located parallel to U.S 341, you can find this old railroad rotating bridge. Two different sources say this bridge was constructed between 1916 and 1930. Originally built by Southern Railway, this bridge was used to let steam boats pass up and down the Ocmulgee River. Now owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad this bridge not only is still used for daily rail traffic, but is a wonderful historic landmark for Lumber City, GA
