Near Wadley

Built in 1851, this Antebellum Plantation home outside Wadley was used early in the Civil War to house wounded Confederate soldiers. In 1863 orphaned boys from Savannah lived there because it was safer than their orpanage. When Sherman's forces passed thru they burned the outbuildings but not the house. (Jefferson County)
