Scull Shoals

Part of a bridge in the ruins of the old mill town of Scull Shoals.First settled around 1790, the town was the site of Georgia's first paper mill (1811) and later cotton, yarn, and cloth mills. Damaged by floods and made obsolete, the town was largely abandoned by 1900. The site is within the Oconee National Forest.
