The Memorial to Blind Willie McTell at the Georgia Railroad Depot in Thomson

Blind Willie McTell was a blues guitarist born in Thomson in 1898 and died in 1959. Most don't know of him but Bob Dylan wrote and recorded a song about him. Perhaps his best known connection to more modern music is the song "Statesboro Blues", written and performed by him and famously covered by the Allman Brothers Band.
