The original bridge was constructed along with a mill complex in the 1880's, but the bridge was washed away in the early 90's and was replaced with this bridge in 1895. Fred Stovall bought the whole complex in 1917 and the mill an dam washed away in 1964. The bridge was featured in a 1951 Susan Hayward movie called "I'd Climb The Highest Mountain".
