Augusta Canal Headgates
The Augusta Canal feeds from the Savannah River a few miles north of Augusta. The Headgates can be reached just off the eastern end of Evans-to-Locks road in a nice county park. The Canal was built in the 1840's to transport materials and was enlarged in the 1870's. Ken Stephens
