. It's history can be tracked back to 1796 when the land was given to William Knowles in the form of a land grant for "services rendered." Mr. Knowles kept the land until 1832 when he sold it to William Jackson. Around 1850, William Jackson built a Greek Revival Plantation house on the property for his son, John, and John's new bride. The home, known as the John S. Jackson Plantation house still stands in its original location.
