UGA's Carl Vinson School of Government

Constructed in 1858, this building in Athens housed the Lucy Cobb Institute, a college for girls. It was started by TRR Cobb in honor of his 14 year old daughter, who had died of Scarlett Fever. It was still a family affair as three of his nieces taught there. The school closed in 1931 and became a dormitory for UGA. In 1997, after renovations, it is now home to UGA's Carl Vinson School of Government. (Clarke County)
