This is the building that once housed the Mitchell House Hotel, an upscale hotel that catered to society's elite (families such as Vanderbilt & Goodrich) back in the 1800's when Thomasville, in Thomas County, was a winter resort destination for well to-do Northerners who would come to town by way of the Atlantic & Gulf Railroad from Savannah. Today, the Mitchell House hasn't been forgotten- it has been turned into condos & lofts, keeping much of the original hotel intact- including original interior brick, original staircases & the original hardwood floors. On a side note- notice the street- It's still brick!
