The Susie Agnes Hotel in Bostwick

The hotel was built in 1902, the same year the city was incorporated. It was built by John Bostwick Sr for people who were making overnight stops on his rail line that connected Monroe with the Central of Georgia line to Madison and Athens. The town flourished for awhile with high cotton prices but shortly before WWI Cotton price declined and properties he owned were sold off. The hotel served as a hotel, various stores, a boarding house for many years after.
