Railroad Depot in Sparta

It's good that the Sparta Railroad Depot has become less forgotten. The Macon & Augusta Railroad started construction in 1859 but construction was interrupted by the Civil War and prison labor was used to complete the line in 1873. In order to complete the line The Georgia Railroad help with financing by leasing the line in 1867 and buying it in 1880 and merging it. The Sparta Depot was completed in 1881.
