The Old Wilkes County Jail in Washington

The Romanesque style structure was built in 1891 by MacDonald Brothers of Louisville Ky. They used a new type of innovative heating system that in the end didn't work as intended and so the building was only used as a jail for about 20 years. The building has been a restaurant and a residence.
