Tunnel Hill
1850 Rev. Clisby Austin House in Tunnel Hill where there was a Civil War battle. This house is next to the Western and Atlantic railroad tunnel where part of the Great Locomotive Chase took place. This house first served as a hospital for the injured and then as Sherman's headquarters as he planned the first phase of the Atlanta Campaign and the Battle through Dalton. It is also legend that John Bell Hood's amputated leg is buried here. The rest of his body was later interred in Metairie, Louisiana. The whole area is rumored to be quite haunted. Valerie Hegwood
