Built in 1839 by Mary Jane Hazard Bacon and kept in the family for over 150 years. Mary Jane prevented Union soldiers from burning the house down during the Civil War by waving her husband's Masons Apron as the troops arrived. Because many Union soldiers were Masons as well, they didn't burn the home. Today it is the home of the Liberty Co. Chamber and Convention and Visitors Bureau. Not forgotten, but very much an interesting piece of GA history.
