The Chattahoochee County Courthouse in Cusseta

Jeff Bucklew

When Chattahoochee became a county in 1854, a large two story wooden courthouse was erected. In 1974 plans were made to construct a one story brick courthouse. The county agreed to relocate the old structure to Westville, a living-history site that was in neighboring Stewart County at the time. The Georgia Bar Association sponsored a renovation of the courthouse after its trip to Westville. According to an online source Westville is presently closed to the public while it's being relocated to Columbus and is scheduled to reopen in 2018, Not sure if they plan on moving the courthouse again.
