In 1903 Annie Heath opened a school for needy, homeless girls. Her residential school (Vashti Industrial School for Girls) began in a nine-room home. In 1907 an old cigar factory was renovated for her growing number of girls. She probably never imagined that her dream would continue growing to become "Vashti Center" which would offer residential rehabilitation services to both girls and boys and their families. It would be nice to learn more about this existing building in Thomas County
Brenda Willis.
