In the late 1800's and early 1900's, Washington was a connecting point for 3 railroads and where all they all came together usually made a great place for a hotel. Edward F Burrows opened his hotel in 1898 to serve the city's growing industrial section. Today, the hotel building is still there, 2 of the 3 railroads are gone and the third, the Georgia Railroad is now operated by a shortline.
