It was established in 1810 in a meeting house about 5 miles south of Shady Dale. The first pastor was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. In 1826 it was moved to this location to be close to the stagecoach stop. A new church was built in 1832 and lasted until 1906 when this church was built using most of the timbers and framing of the original building.
