Railroad Depot in Mitchell

The old but restored railroad depot in Mitchell was constructed in 1886 by the Augusta Gibson & Sandersville. In 1893 the railroad became the Augusta Southern. Thru reorganizations and sales it became part of the Georgia & Florida in 1919. Never a very profitable railroad, the GF abandoned the line thru Glascock County in 1934.
