These buildings on Helen Hwy in White County are circa 1940s. They are currently used for retail but in the past one or more of the buildings was a gas station (according to a commercial lease ad that disclosed there are buried gas tanks on the property). My interest was in the pottery store at the far end, but unfortunately they were closed when I stopped by. I enjoy learning about the folk pottery history of this area in North Georgia and am supportive of the local artisans, many who are descendants, or were trained by the descendants, of a long line of Georgia folk potter families.
