Colonial Cemetery in Savannah

At the back of the cemetery, headstones line a brick wall. Story is, during the Civil War, when Sherman and his troops marched into the city, they needed a place to set up camp. Many of the headstones were pulled up to make room for tents, horses, wagons, etc. Once the troops left town, no one knew where all the uprooted headstones had been placed, so they decided to line them up along the back wall of the cemetery.
