Jimmie's was established in the late 30s or early 40s and is the oldest eating establishment in Albany. Just across the street from the bus station, Jimmie's was popular with the bus passengers traveling through Albany back in the day when fewer people had cars and many traveled on buses. It was also popular with the servicemen at a local military base and many football players and other athletes. It's a carry out place and they pack up a lot of hot dogs, sometimes 50 to 100 in an order.
Famous people who have ate at Jimmie's are Luther Vandross (singer, songwriter and record producer) and Phillip Phillips (American Idol winner from 2012) and many others. If you are interested in Native American Festivals, Albany has a great one at Chehaw Park which is located not far from Jimmie's. The festival dates for 2018 are April 13-15.
