Built by Charles Clark in 1847. He was a successful planter who had two wives and 25 children so he built the church on his property because it became too much for his family too travel too church on Sunday. Charles and his wives are buried on the property. After they had passed the church was administered by the Methodist Episcopal Church and passed back into the family's care in 1978. Despite some fire damage in the 1880's, most of the church is original to 1847. Stained glass windows depicting some of the family history were added later.
