St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Darien

It was organized in 1841 as St. Peter's. The name was changed to St. Andrews a year later. The original church was a simple small wooden structure located about 200 feet north of the present site. In June 1863 the church and most of Darien was burned to the ground by Union Troops whose commanding officer was relieved for needless destruction. Darien was rebuilt and in 1879 a new church was dedicated and still serves today.
