It was founded in 1775 by two brothers from Ireland, one of which participated in the Boston Tea Party. It was originally known as "SC Church", likely named after Samual Collins, one of the two brothers, but could also have been Spring Creek, where the original loc church was built nearby. Records of the church are generally vague, but a deed dated in 1804 for the land the current building is on lists the current structure and an architectural historian has confirmed the date of the building as very early 1800's. The building has been renovated but with it's original bone's and historic interior intact.
