Old Bridge in Lowndes County

This bridge over the Old Quitman Highway is 6 miles West of Valdosta in Lowndes County. It has carried traffic over the CSX railroad for exactly 90 years (it was built back in 1928) and it is still in use today! This is the oldest bridge in Lowndes County still in use. It once carried U.S. Highway 84 prior to it being 4-laned. There has been talk of replacing it for quite awhile, so this bridge probably won't last much longer before it is replaced. If you happen to be in the area, take a good look when you pass by - it definitely shows it's age!
