The Brick Store is the Oldest Brick Structure in Newton County

 It was built by Charles Jordan in 1821 when the county was formed. The first Superior Court session in the county was held here in 1822. Over it's life has been a bit of everything including a general store, stage coach stop, courtroom, schoolhouse, jail and a residence. It was a central gathering point for a community known as Sun-Up, Mt. Pleasant and Brick Store.
