It was established around 1805. In 1809 a lot was deeded to the trustees by the city yet no church was built until 1828. In 1895, that building was torn down and in 1898 the building you see here was dedicated. It served the congregation well until vacated in 1960 when a new church was built in a different location. Since then it has been used as a funeral home, the Monticello public library and another church but to the best of my knowledge it is unoccupied.
